Tripoli: A delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Education, led by Omar Er§in, engaged in discussions with the Libyan News Agency (LANA) to explore collaboration prospects in education and training, particularly focusing on journalism and media.
According to Libyan News Agency, the delegation met with Abdulbasit Ahmed Aboudia, Chairman of the Board of LANA, at their headquarters in Tripoli. The Turkish delegation comprised Melisa Dogan from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities; Fatma Inci, the ministry’s Cultural and Social Affairs Coordinator; and Willis Oz, an expert from the Presidency for Turks Abroad.
Aboudia expressed eagerness to establish effective cooperation with Turkish educational institutions, emphasizing the historical ties between Libya and Turkey. He highlighted the potential to expand relations across various fields, focusing on media, journalism, and technology. LANA aims to collaborate with Turkish media institutions, including Anadolu Agency, to train young Libyan professionals and exchange information in cultural and media domains.
Omar Er§in voiced his satisfaction with the visit, expressing interest in initiating tangible cooperation with LANA. He emphasized the importance of preparing academic theses for Libyan students and exchanging expertise in media and languages to foster understanding of shared heritage.
During the visit, the Turkish delegation toured the newsroom and documentation center, reviewing historical documents chronicling Libyan-Turkish relations. Er§in expressed admiration for the resources, acknowledging their value in reflecting LANA’s historical significance.
In the visitors’ book, Er§in noted the significant role of LANA in enhancing bilateral relations and conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Turkish people. Both parties agreed to continue consultations to identify areas for educational and training grants beneficial to LANA’s development plans.
