Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has taken a significant step forward by sending out invitations for a structured dialogue aimed at addressing critical issues facing the nation. This initiative marks a concerted effort to bring together various elements of Libyan society to tackle longstanding conflicts and contribute to national reconciliation.
According to Libyan News Agency, the mission began inviting selected parties to participate in the dialogue on Wednesday. The invitations have been extended to 120 Libyan figures, representing a diverse range of sectors, including municipalities, political parties, universities, technical and security institutions, and different segments of society. This broad representation is intended to ensure that the dialogue encompasses a wide array of perspectives and expertise.
The structured dialogue is designed to provide a platform for participants to discuss and address fundamental issues related to governance, the economy, security, national reconciliation, and human rights. The ultimate goal is to formulate public policy recommendations and build consensus around a shared vision for resolving the persistent causes of conflict in Libya. Furthermore, the dialogue aims to lay the groundwork for holding presidential and parliamentary elections and to support efforts to unify institutions while enhancing governance and accountability.
