The Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, discussed with his Danish counterpart, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the repeated attacks on the Holy Quran in Denmark.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that Fidan warned, in a telephone conversation with his Danish counterpart, that anti-Islam in Europe had reached the point of danger, describing it as an “epidemic.”

In the phone call, the Turkish Foreign Minister affirmed his rejection of the incidents of the “obscene” assaults on the Holy Qur’an under the pretext of freedom of expression, and his strong condemnation of these acts.

The Turkish minister called on the Danish government to move to stop the incidents of abuse.

The General Assembly of the United Nations had adopted last Tuesday a resolution condemning all acts of violence against the Holy Books, and considering it a violation of international law.

It is noteworthy that both Sweden and Denmark witnessed, during the past few days, the burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an, which was met with widespread Arab and Islamic condemnation.
