Egypt and U.S. Engage in Talks on Libya and Regional Concerns

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in discussions with U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, focusing on the latest developments in Libya and regional matters of shared interest. According to Libyan News Agency, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for Libya's unity and stability, emphasizing the significance of unifying national institutions and achieving an inclusive political solution through a Libyan-led process. This process aims to facilitate simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections promptly. Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that the discussions covered Libya's current situation. Both parties expressed their support for initiatives aimed at maintaining stability and safeguarding the unity of the Libyan state and its institutions to bolster security. The discussions also encompassed developments in Sudan and the Horn of Africa, along with strategies to enhance coordin ation on regional issues. Additionally, both sides reaffirmed the strong ties between Egypt and the United States and their commitment to ongoing collaboration and coordination on regional developments.
