Libya and EU Enhance Cooperation on Civil Society Programs

Tripoli: Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ashraf Al Tayeb, and Director of the Civil Society Organizations Department, Osama Hzam, met with the EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in areas of common interest.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting, which was held yesterday, focused on supporting cooperation for programs targeting civil society organizations. It reviewed ongoing joint projects and explored prospects for developing the partnership with the EU to contribute to strengthening development efforts and building institutional capacity in Libya.

The ministry stated today that the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two parties has been affirmed to ensure the effectiveness of joint programs and projects and the achievement of their goals.

The ministry added that the meeting also addressed the EU-funded AMAL project, discussing its implementation mechanisms and coordination with relevant national authorities to ensure its objectives are achieved and its impact enhanced.
