The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Wednesday, at his residence in Manama, on the sidelines of the Arab Summit at its thirty-third session in Bahrain, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamzah Abdi Barre, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, relations and cooperation between the two countries and the general situation in the region were discussed.
The President stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Iraq and Somalia and joint coordination regarding the challenges facing the two countries and the region, noting the need to reduce tensions and establish security, peace and stability at the regional and international levels, indicating that Iraq looks forward to cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries in various fields.
Regarding developments in the situation in Palestine, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of joint and unified action to stop the aggression against the brotherly Pales
tinian people in the Gaza Strip, provide relief to the Palestinians, and work to guarantee their full legitimate rights to establish their state on their lands, stressing that there is no security and stability in the region without achieving this.
For his part, Hamzah Abdi Barre expressed the desire of the Federal Republic of Somalia to develop relations with Iraq in a way that serves mutual interests, stressing the importance of working to end crises, stop the war on the Gaza Strip, and provide relief to the brotherly Palestinian people.
