The Iraqi Center for Combating Rumors: We monitored 50 individuals and organizations that began attacking the Iraqi judiciary within the American lobby

The Iraqi Center for Combating Rumors warned, today, Monday, of the danger of targeting the Iraqi judiciary, which is a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and an attempt to overthrow one of the most important pillars of the Iraqi state, revealing that it has monitored a movement to create an imaginary public opinion that supports the American steps that seek legislation condemning the Iraqi judicial institution.

The Center stated, in a press release, that the Monitoring and Follow-up Department monitored more than 50 organizations, research centers, and prominent activists on social media sites who write misleading reports, blogs, or fabricated stories targeting the Judicial Council and the President of the Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, for the benefit of political parties with the aim of clearing the way and preparing a background for other countries to attack him and to belittle the status, independence and professionalism of the judiciary.

The center explained: ‘These organizations, centers and activists are
all working within the lobbies of political parties whose interests have been harmed by the decisions of the judiciary and its professionalism. They have worked in a deliberate and organized manner to create misleading reports and news that harm the reputation and professionalism of the Iraqi judiciary and to cast doubt on its work for the purpose of questioning the confidence of citizens and the international community in its decisions, by creating imaginary opinion in conjunction with the recent American move.’

The center pointed out that: ‘In light of the continuous development in the work of the judiciary and its components, and it has made important strides in proving its independence, striking down crime and drug gangs, and strengthening its position as a safety valve for the political process in Iraq and guarantor of the rights and freedoms of Iraqis, citizens and elite intellectuals and media professionals must confront anyone who targets the judiciary.’

The center stressed: ‘to stay silence about t
hese voices means support for gangs that plunder public money, crime, and drugs, which were the first to be harmed by the iron hand of the judiciary.’
