Baghdad: The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Rajab Abdul-Sadig, is actively participating in the Baghdad Energy Forum, which is being held in the Iraqi capital from September 6 to 7, 2025. This significant event gathers oil and energy ministers from numerous Arab and foreign nations, alongside CEOs of leading international oil, gas, and renewable energy companies.
According to Libyan News Agency, during a dialogue session titled “Balancing National Interests and the Global Energy System,” Minister Abdul-Sadig highlighted Libya’s strategic role as a reliable energy source in the region, underpinned by its vast reserves of oil and gas. He underscored Libya’s commitment to boosting sustainable production to two million barrels per day, with a particular focus on utilizing associated gas and curbing flaring rates to meet environmental and sustainability pledges.
Minister Abdul-Sadig emphasized the importance of striking a balance between the national interests of energy-producing countries and the stability of the global energy system. He called for the creation of equitable and sustainable partnerships that ensure mutual benefits and enhance the prospects for economic growth and technological progress in the energy sector, both at regional and international levels.
Accompanying the Minister were the Libyan Consul to the Republic of Iraq, an advisor to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, and the Director of the Ministry’s International Cooperation Office.
