Tripoli: The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior of the Government of National Unity recently convened a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to address the challenges faced by Libyan communities abroad. The focus was on resolving administrative and legal issues for those wishing to regularize their status.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was led by Mohamed Zidan, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Expatriate Affairs. It included participation from the Head of the Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners Affairs Authority, the Director of the International Relations and Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Interior, and several directors from relevant departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
This meeting is part of a series of preparatory discussions involving multiple Libyan ministries and institutions dedicated to addressing the concerns of citizens living overseas. Various proposals were discussed, aiming to mitigate obstacles and offer necessary facilities, thereby strengthening trust with Libyan expatriates. The discussions also focused on encouraging expatriates to return and contribute to national development, taking into account their valuable scientific skills and expertise.
Additionally, the meeting explored related issues as part of the development and implementation of a national strategy to support and engage with the Libyan community abroad.
