Tripoli: The official spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, has refuted the accuracy of the expenditure figures reported by the Central Bank of Libya. The report in question detailed the total expenditures of the House from January 1 to August 31, 2025, but Blihaq insists that the figures are incorrect and have since been amended in collaboration with the bank’s management.

According to Libyan News Agency, Blihaq explained through an official notice on the House’s Facebook page that the report contained a typographical error. It inaccurately stated that the expenditures amounted to 644,903,295.622 million Libyan dinars, a figure that does not represent the actual spending.

Blihaq noted that the Central Bank of Libya’s management swiftly addressed the error and corrected it. He stressed the importance of verifying such information before its dissemination, especially as some online platforms have attempted to use the error in campaigns to damage the House of Representatives’ reputation.

He urged media outlets and public affairs experts to ensure the accuracy of financial statements, particularly those involving sovereign institutions, before publishing or analyzing them. This vigilance is crucial as these figures can significantly influence public perception and trust in these institutions.

In an effort to maintain transparency and inform the public, Blihaq included copies of both the erroneous and corrected reports in his notice.
