HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad oversees start of new endurance racing season

Manama, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Honorary President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), oversaw the start of the 2024/2025 endurance racing season. The races were attended by His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for the Environment and Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), as well as member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS).

The season’s opening saw participation from Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary-General of the SCYS, who competed in the 40km qualifying race with ‘Team Victorious’. Also in attendance were Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, and Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee.

The event featured 40km and 80km local qualifying races, as well as a 100km international race, held at the Bahrain International
Endurance Village.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser highlighted the strong participation, noting that it reflects the continued success and growing popularity of Bahrain’s endurance sport, with new faces joining from local stables each year. He praised the significant involvement of young riders, emphasising the key role of youth in carrying forward this esteemed sport.

His Highness also pointed out the importance of local races for stables and riders, as they provide valuable experience and preparation for international competitions. He commended the efforts of all riders in the season’s opening races.

His Highness followed part of the races closely and provided guidance to the riders during the stages.
