The Health and Population Ministry and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) reached a grant agreement worth 11.2 million dollars to promote the health sector in Egypt.

Under the deal, 5.2 million dollars will be channeled into strengthening Egypt’s efforts to support people suffering from HIV and tuberculosis, while the remaining 5.9 million dollars will be used for mitigating the negative impacts of Covid-19.

The grant, offered by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, supports a three-year program (from April 2022 to March 2025) to improve access to HIV and tuberculosis treatment services and mitigate the effects of Covid-19 on the healthcare system in Egypt.

The program will be executed in cooperation with the Health and Population Ministry’s HIV and tuberculosis prevention programs and civil society organizations in eight governorates.
