Erdogan, during his meeting with Haniyeh, confirms that Turkey will continue its efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its crimes


Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that his country will continue its efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its crimes committed against the Palestinians.

During his meeting with the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, today in Istanbul, Erdogan stressed the need for Palestinians to unite and work together, in defense of their just cause, noting, at the same time, that his country continued to impose sanctions against Israel, which included trade restrictions.

During the meeting, issues related to the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territories, especially Gaza, were discussed, and what must be done to ensure the delivery of adequate and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a just and lasting peace process in the region.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey is continuing its diplomatic efforts to draw the attention of the international community to the oppression to which the Palestinians are subjected, noting that the necessity of puttin
g an end to brutality and establishing an urgent and permanent ceasefire is emphasized at every opportunity.

The Turkish President stressed that Israel will pay the price for the oppression it is exercising against the Palestinians, pointing to the efforts made to establish an independent State of Palestine, as the key to lasting peace in the region.

He also stressed that Turkey continues its humanitarian aid to Palestine in order to alleviate the suffering, noting that more than 45 thousand tons of humanitarian aid have been shipped to the region so far.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Director of the National Intelligence Service, Ibrahim Kalin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Fahrettin Altun, and the President’s Senior Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy, Ambassador Akif Çatay Kiliç.
