Egyptian and Turkish Diplomats Engage in Consultations on Libyan Stability

Cairo: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted the sixth round of Egyptian-Turkish consultations focused on the situation in Libya. The discussions centered around the latest political and security developments, aiming to support the political process in a way that maintains Libya's unity and sovereignty while enhancing stability for its people.

According to Libyan News Agency, the official page of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both parties exchanged views and assessments on the Libyan situation. They emphasized the importance of supporting the political track and maintaining Libya's territorial integrity to achieve security and stability.

The consultations also addressed regional and international efforts to support the UN-sponsored political settlement process. The participants highlighted the necessity of intensifying international and regional coordination to advance the political process.

Both sides agreed on the importance of fostering dialogue among Libya's various political entities to create conditions conducive to a comprehensive political process that ensures lasting stability in the country.

There was a consensus on the need to provide an environment suitable for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. This step is seen as crucial to fulfilling the Libyan people's aspirations for stability, development, and the establishment of robust state institutions.

The discussions were led by Ambassador Bassel Salah, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Libya Department for Egypt, and Ambassador Ali Onaner, Director General of the North and East Africa Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing Turkey.
