Tripoli: The Interior Ministry of the Government of National Unity has inaugurated a dedicated office to combat human trafficking crimes, marking a significant step in addressing this critical issue. The Anti-Human Trafficking Office has been established within the General Security Apparatus and security checkpoints, with the aim of fortifying efforts against these crimes.
According to Libyan News Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by key figures from the Ministry of Interior, along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The event also saw the presence of the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Libya, ambassadors and representatives from various embassies, as well as representatives from international organizations, and other officials and stakeholders.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the creation of this office underscores its dedication to advancing specialized security operations. It seeks to enhance the strategies for combating human trafficking in line with international and national standards and agreements. Additionally, the office aims to foster cooperation and coordination with relevant national and international entities, thereby contributing to the reduction of these crimes and the prosecution of perpetrators in line with existing legislation.
