Tripoli: During his follow-up on the Tripoli Airport Road development project, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba highlighted the critical nature of ensuring the readiness of this vital axis. Dabaiba underscored the necessity of completing the work in alignment with the airport’s upcoming opening.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Transport, the head of the Transportation Projects Implementation Agency, and the head of the executive team for the Prime Minister’s Initiatives. The Prime Minister reiterated the significance of the road, which serves as the southern facade of the capital, directly influencing the flow of visitors and travelers.
The project involves the development of a 23-kilometer road stretching from the airport to Bab al-Salam Roundabout. The road is designed to be 19 meters wide, featuring five lanes in each direction. Additionally, a service road parallel to the main route is being constructed to improve the movement of service vehicles and transportation efficiency.
The initiative also includes maintaining damaged sections, repairing cracks, repainting lanes, installing modern traffic signals, implementing an advanced lighting network, improving sidewalks and landscaping, and developing the airport’s main entrance. The Council of Ministers had previously sanctioned the project as part of a broader strategy to enhance the capital’s infrastructure, particularly areas linked to the operation of Tripoli International Airport.
