BP Announces Reopening of Tripoli Office to Boost Libyan Oil Operations

Tripoli: BP has announced plans to reopen its office in Tripoli, Libya, as it aims to resume operations in the country by the last quarter of 2025. This strategic move is intended to facilitate the management and supervision of BP’s projects in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, during a signing ceremony held in London, the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleman, formalized an agreement with BP to restart operations and expand their partnership. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlines BP’s commitment to conducting studies on hydrocarbon exploration and production potential in the Messla and Sarir fields, as well as surrounding areas.

In his address at the ceremony, Suleman emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NOC and BP, highlighting the need for training programs for technical and leadership staff within Libya’s oil sector. He expressed optimism about BP’s upcoming involvement and its potential to significantly contribute to the development of the count
ry’s oil industry.

Suleman also praised the technical teams from both organizations for their diligent work in preparing the MoU’s terms and documentation. In a related development, the NOC reached an agreement with Shell for the evaluation of hydrocarbon prospects and a detailed feasibility study for developing the al-Atshan field and other NOC-owned fields.

These initiatives are part of the NOC Chairman’s ongoing efforts to enhance Libya’s oil sector, boost productivity, and achieve economic stability. The achievements reflect the dedication to revitalizing the industry and ensuring its long-term growth.
