TRIPOLI: Abdullah Al-Lafi, Deputy of the Presidential Council, emphasized the critical role of national reconciliation in stabilizing Libya and facilitating the electoral process during the Forum of Notables, Sheikhs, and Sages held in Tripoli. The forum, supported by the Presidential Council, aimed to advance discussions on national unity as Libya commemorates its seventy-third independence anniversary.
According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Lafi underscored the progress made in the reconciliation project, despite facing numerous challenges. He highlighted the significance of this gathering in remembering Libya’s past, drawing inspiration from the unity demonstrated by previous generations in defending the nation. The reconciliation initiative, which has been actively pursued across various Libyan cities, is nearing a crucial phase with the preparation of the National Reconciliation Law. This law, developed by Libyan legal experts, has been submitted to the House of Representatives for approval since January.
Al-Lafi affirmed that the participation of wise figures, notables, and sheikhs in the forum signifies a collective sense of responsibility and support for the reconciliation project. He also emphasized the importance of learning from the reconciliation experiences of other countries to ensure the success of Libya’s efforts. The forum featured a wide array of participants, including members from the Libyan General Union of Martyrs’ Families Organizations and Associations, highlighting a unified front in the pursuit of national harmony.
