Seoul, Shaikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa, the member of the Council of Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly (UNCPGA) and former President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), participated in the UNCPGA meeting held from October 18-20 in South Korea.

Dr. Han Seung-soo, UNCPGA Chairman from South Korea, chaired the session.

Dennis Francis, President of the current 78th session of the UNGA, attended the meeting.

The Seoul Declaration issued by the meeting recounted the offer of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to establish a foundation in support of the Council’s program of work under development.

As regards the conflict in Gaza, the Council called for the immediate release of hostages, immediate humanitarian ceasefire, and immediate access of humanitarian aid for the civilian population.

Water, food, medicine and essential supplies are lifesaving for the besieged civilians of Gaza, the Seoul Declaration said.

The declaration stressed the necessity of ending the war and supporting the efforts to a permanent settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of finding a two-states’ solution and living in peace side by side.

The Council received detailed reports about the measures needed to combat international cybercrime and counter-terrorism issues with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).
