Tripoli: Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Suhail Bushiha, engaged in discussions with an Indian delegation to explore avenues for enhancing economic and trade cooperation between Libya and India. The meeting was held with the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for West Asia and North Africa from India.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions covered the expansion of cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, digital transformation, and capacity building. Both parties deliberated on initiatives aimed at supporting the business environment and strengthening collaboration between public and private sector institutions in the two countries.

The Indian Assistant Secretary of External Affairs announced that India's embassy will soon start issuing business visas from Tripoli. This move is expected to facilitate the movement of businesspeople and companies, thereby bolstering economic and investment cooperation between the two nations.

Both sides highlighted the significance of leveraging historical relations between Libya and India and agreed on the need to reactivate the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee, which last convened in 2007. They emphasized updating joint cooperation mechanisms to pave the way for new economic and developmental partnerships, aiming to fulfill the mutual interests of both countries in the near future.
