Tripoli: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, met with the Mauritanian Ambassador to Libya, Sidi Yahya Lemrabott, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing agreements signed between the two countries.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was attended by Najib Al-Rayani, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, and Osama Al-Jedi, Head of the Maghreb Section at the Department. Discussions focused on enhancing relations between Libya and Mauritania in various fields to raise the level of joint cooperation and serve mutual interests.
Both sides explored the formation of a technical committee to review existing bilateral agreements and develop mechanisms for their activation, aiming to meet the aspirations of the two nations. They also agreed to continue diplomatic coordination to finalize arrangements for the Libyan-Mauritanian Joint Higher Committee meeting, which is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation and expand partnership opportunities.
The meeting included an exchange of views on prominent regional and international issues of common interest, with an emphasis on the importance of ongoing consultations and coordination on mutual concerns. At the end of the discussions, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained dialogue and cooperation to strengthen the fraternal relations between Libya and Mauritania, pursuing the common interests of their peoples.
