Tripoli: The second training program of the Standing Committee for Monitoring and Implementing Agenda 2063 has commenced in Tripoli, titled "Deepening Alignment with Agenda 2063: From Reporting to Evidence-Based Sustainable Development Decision-Making."

According to Libyan News Agency, the program seeks to enhance the capacities of national institutions in aligning with and monitoring the second ten-year implementation plan of Agenda 2063, as well as improving national reporting to support evidence-based decision-making. Mohamed Al-Fadhel, Chairman of the Standing Committee, emphasized the importance of these efforts for sustainable development.

Jibril highlighted that the program supports national efforts to implement the second ten-year plan for Agenda 2063, utilizing insights from the national report to prepare for the 2026-2027 reporting cycle. He stressed the necessity of progressing from reporting to applying results for strategic planning and execution.

The program features various activities such as technical presentations, discussions, working groups, and practical exercises related to data and indicators. It aims to establish a matrix to align national and sectoral priorities with Agenda 2063's goals.

Running from August 17 to 20, the program seeks to enhance understanding of Agenda 2063 and its implementation requirements, while also reviewing the national report to derive lessons and future action plans. A roadmap for Libya's reporting readiness will also be formulated, detailing responsibilities, timelines, and technical support needs.

Participants include representatives from the Cabinet Office, several ministries, academic institutions, civil society, media, the private sector, and the African Union's Technical Working Group on Agenda 2063.

The expected outcomes of the program include a work plan for the next report, improved metadata for indicators, and recommendations for enhancing data governance and digital sovereignty. The roadmap for the 2026-2027 reporting cycle will also be developed.

After the program concludes, the Standing Committee will coordinate with national entities and the African Union's team to implement the roadmap and procedures, ensuring sustainable institutional coordination and alignment with Agenda 2063.
