Trade min. participates in WTO’s 13th ministerial conference in Abu Dhabi

Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir Sunday headed to the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, to take part in the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) that will take place between February 26-29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The minister, in a statement issued on Sunday, emphasized Egypt’s appreciation for efforts of the UAE to host the conference that represents a key opportunity for reviewing the functioning of the multilateral trading system towards taking action on the consecutive crises and challenges that have been facing the world throughout the past few years.

He underscored Egypt’s commitment to the multilateral trading system as well as the country’s readiness for joint-constructive action with all WTO Member States to render the MC13 a success and foster the pivotal role of the organization, amid the unprecedented challenges.

Boosting the food security of WTO Member states, particularly the developing nations, will figure high on Egypt’s agenda dur
ing the conference.

Ministers from across the world will attend the WTO’s 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) to review the functioning of the multilateral trading system and to take action on the future work of the WTO.

The Conference will be chaired by Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) deals with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.
