The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, announced today, Thursday, the inauguration of the Arab-Kurdish Cultural Center in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, the Minister of Migration and Displacement Evan Faeq Yaqoub, and a number of leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, dignitaries and officials, as well as a gathering of academics and writers.

In his speech, the President affirmed / according to a statement by his office /: The center is an independent civil institution, and we aspire through the Kurdish Arab Cultural Center to consolidate and develop links and a common life between Kurdish culture and intellectuals and their fellow Arabs and from other nationalities, and vice versa as well, that is, between Arab intellectuals and their Kurdish counterparts and those other Fraternal Nationalities in Federal Democratic Iraq.

He stressed: What brings us together and unites us is a lot of cultural, national and social commonalities, and it is our responsibility to develop this diversity and enhance it by joint action, and we will work through this center to achieve some of these aspirations.

Rashid pointed out: The work in the center will be for intellectuals, including writers, artists, writers, researchers and thinkers, without interference from any authority other than the authority of the common national culture.

He added: Politics, especially in the recent decades of dictatorship, unfortunately worked on a kind of estrangement between the people of the country, and the result of these policies was to bring up generations who were not accustomed to the well-known coexistence between citizens of different nationalities.

The President of the Republic indicated: The opportunities for coexistence and learning languages have become possible and even necessary, and we aspire for any Kurdish to speak the Arabic language, just as we aspire for any Arab citizen or other nationalities to speak and understand Kurdish./ End
