The Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold next Monday, the 18th extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States, by default, to discuss the recurrence of incidents of desecration and burning of copies of the Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark, at the request of Saudi Arabia, the head of the 14th Islamic Summit, and Iraq.
A statement by the organization stated that this meeting comes in implementation of what was stated in the final statement issued by the extraordinary, open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization in Jeddah on July 2, 2023, regarding the burning of a copy of the Qur’an in Sweden, where it called for holding High-level emergency meeting when required.
It added, "The meeting also comes in light of the consultations conducted by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussain Ibrahim Taha, with member states regarding the implementation of the final statement issued by the Executive Committee, and consideration of taking further measures in response to the repetition of such provocative actions, which represent a manifestation of deliberate religious hatred and fanaticism./ End
