The Malaysian government decided to open its embassy in Baghdad.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met today, Wednesday, Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambri Abdul Qadir, on the sidelines of his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, which is being held in Baku from 5-6 July 2023. During the meeting, they discussed the relations between the two friendly countries, and emphasized the depth of the relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister welcomed, according to the statement, the Malaysian government's decision to open its embassy in Iraq, stressing that Iraq will provide all means of support for the success of the embassy's work.

For his part, the Malaysian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's support for Iraq and that the Malaysian government decided to open its embassy in Baghdad.

In conclusion, the Foreign Minister extended an official invitation to his Malaysian counterpart to visit Iraq to discuss relations and ways to strengthen them on all economic, infrastructure, cultural and educational levels.
