Tripoli, The government of national unity on Tuesday organized a seminar entitled “Disclosure” on government spending in the presence of a number of ministers and officials of government agencies.
During the seminar, which was organized under the instructions of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba, who attended part of it, the financial reports of ministries and educational institutions on budgets and spending clauses on development projects were presented. Speaking at the seminar, the Minister of Finance explained that the general budget which amounted to 85.773.914.404 billion dinars and from which 75 billion dinars were used, included 33 billion for salaries, 20 billion for subsidy, 17 billion for development and 6 billion for emergencies.
The Ministers and heads of bodies and institutions reviewed what was spent on development programs in various sectors of their ministries and institutions in various cities and regions of Libya. The Ministers responded to a number of questions and inquiries regarding the spending items of the general budget, where the Minister of Finance confirmed that the ministry and based on a decision of the Cabinet to transfer the amount 500 million dinars to the Social Security Fund to cover the salaries of retired people who receive the minimum salaries. The presentation also included what was spent on education, health, sports, higher education and housing projects, as part of the summary of the first phase development projects, which amounted to 356 projects in various sectors, whether implemented or still under implementation.
On section 5 the emergencies which amounted to 6.4 billion dinars, the report said one billion dinars had been allocated for job settlements for some members of the defense ministry and the maintenance of war-damaged headquarters.
Government spending data included the allocation of 1.3 billion dinars in maintenance expenses to the new ministries, public bodies and institutions, 50 million dinars to support the General Intelligence Service, and 150 million dinars for the rehabilitation of Al-Andalus neighborhood after the security operation against the illegal drug and illegal migration dens and immigration, and (100) million dinars to deal with the emergency situation in Ras Ajdair border crossing.
The report also included what was allocated to the Social Solidarity Fund of (50) million dinars for the purchase of cars for the disabled, support for universities in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic and preparation for exams at 60 million dinars, 225 million dinars for the maintenance of some power plants, and 100 million dinars to establish 10 Auditoriums at the University of Benghazi.
