Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed today Iraq's neutral position on the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Hussein said during the meeting he held with the Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Yulia Sviridenko, via video technology: "We renew Iraq's neutral position that it adopted from the Russian-Ukrainian war, as it is consistent with the provisions of the Iraqi constitution in not standing with one side against another, and calling for respect for the principles of international law and the Charter of The United Nations and support efforts aimed at ending the war, and encourage all mediation efforts in this framework to reach a solution aimed at calm, restraint, and a cease-fire, in a manner that guarantees the return of stability and an end to the crisis.

The two sides discussed a number of issues related to bilateral relations between the two countries, and a number of issues taking place in the regional and international arenas, including economic cooperation, the joint committee between the two countries, the Arab contact group on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, dialogue and peace, and the issue of mine clearance.
