Tripoli: The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, met with the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, today, Monday, in Tripoli.
Orlando said in his post on the X platform, ‘I assured Batili of the European Union’s firm support for his mediation aimed at overcoming the fragile and divided stalemate, by reaching a comprehensive political agreement between the main parties concerned that will lead the country to national elections.’
The European official added that while Libya and the region face new challenges, we agreed on the need to intensify efforts to break the political deadlock and allow citizens to choose their leadership and restore legitimacy to all institutions, thus preserving stability, unity and sovereignty of the country.
