Benghazi: The Syrian Foreign Ministry has announced the start of consular services for its nationals in Benghazi, commencing on Monday, October 27. These services aim to assist Syrian citizens residing in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the provided services include the extension of expired passports and the issuance of temporary laissez-passer documents, which are valid for 90 days. The process for obtaining a laissez-passer requires applicants to submit an official ID or birth certificate from the Libyan authorities, two recent identical personal photos, and the presence of the applicant or a first-degree relative.

The Ministry’s technical delegation will operate from a temporary location at Benghazi Events Hall No. (1) within the Benghazi Parks Complex. The services will be available from October 27 to November 1, 2025.

Unofficial estimates from local organizations in Libya suggest that the Syrian population in the country is between 30,000 and 50,000 people.
