Gulf Steam Power Plant Prepares to Reconnect to National Grid

Tripoli: An official from the Gulf Steam Power Plant has announced that the process of charging the power supply has commenced, setting the stage for the plant's return to the national grid within the next few hours.

According to Libyan News Agency, technicians at the Gulf Steam Power Plant have initiated the charging process to restart the plant and reconnect it to the national electricity grid. The startup process is expected to take around two hours or more.

The temporary shutdown of the generating units was due to high humidity levels, which impacted the Misrata-Sirte and Misrata-Gulf power transmission lines that supply the plant. The return of the plant's generating units to the grid is anticipated to restore electricity to the Sirte region, which has been without power since early today.

Electricity restoration efforts have already begun in the Al-Thalathin, Wadi Jarif, and Al-Qubaybah areas, located west of Sirte, following the power plant's restart.
