Manama, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, has stated that the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip require international humanitarian solidarity and cooperation to protect the Palestinian people and innocent civilians, as well as achieve comprehensive peace and stability.
He expressed pride in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm supportive stance towards the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Shura Chairman indicated that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the kingdom supports the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip in the light of the dire humanitarian situation they are going through due to the ongoing war, praising HM the King’s firm approach in supporting peace efforts that are based on dialogue, understanding, and effective cooperation among all countries.
Al Saleh valued highly Bahrain’s keenness to participate in and interact positively with regional and international conferences and gatherings that stress the need for establishing peace as a strategic option that guarantees the protection of the peoples of the region, including the Palestinian people, who need an international and humanitarian stance to end the escalating violence they are exposed to.
In this context, he lauded the speech delivered on behalf of HM King Hamad by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, hosted today by Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi, under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
The Shura Chairman said that the kingdom’s call for forming an emergency and independent international committee to “supervise the safety of the Palestinian people, impartially investigate the escalating violence, pursue the release of all prisoners and detainees on both sides, and determine the extent of the damage” embodies its unrelenting efforts to create ways and mechanisms that would protect innocent civilians.
Al Saleh hailed the “pivotal and leading” role played by Saudi Arabia to mobilise efforts to achieve peace, commending its keenness to bring together Arab and Islamic leaders to discuss the situation and developments in the Gaza Strip.
He affirmed the importance of the summits hosted by Saudi Arabia in enhancing the region’s stability and progress.
