Benghazi: Chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Jeremy Berndt, emphasized continued U.S. support for the objectives of the unified budget agreement, considering it a fundamental framework to bolster Libya's financial stability, protect the value of the dinar and the purchasing power of the Libyan people, support vital economic institutions, and ensure distribution of development funding to all regions of Libya. According to Libyan News Agency, Berndt stated in a tweet published by the U.S. Embassy that he had a productive meeting in Benghazi with Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belgassem Haftar. The meeting, attended by Deputy Chief of Mission Inga Heemink, focused on strengthening cooperation with U.S. companies and exploring prospects for expanding economic and development partnerships. Berndt reiterated the importance of full implementation of the unified budget agreement due to its crucial role in supporting financial stability and promoting sound management of public resources. He highlighted the U.S. support for Libyan technocratic institutions, particularly the Central Bank of Libya and the National Oil Corporation, as a key factor in consolidating economic stability and achieving sustainable development.
