Baghdad -Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired, today, Thursday, the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for Reconstruction and Investment.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated: “During the meeting, a number of relevant files and topics were discussed, which are based on the government’s vision and priorities, which came in the ministerial program, and focused on optimal investment and development projects that the country needs, in a way that is clearly reflected on covering the needs of citizens and providing many important job opportunities.”
The statement added: "In light of the outcomes of the Mineral, Petrochemical and Fertilizer Investment Conference, which was held in May 2023, the committee discussed the supply of projects in this sector, and decided to proceed with projects related to the production of fertilizers such as urea and refined sulfur."
It continued: "In the presence of the Mayor of Baghdad, a project was discussed to develop the lands of Al-Rashid Camp to create a sustainable forest city, which would provide additional green spaces for the capital and improve its environmental reality."
The statement added: “During the meeting, a vote was taken in favor of establishing two housing projects in Nineveh Governorate, and it was decided to grant the party that owns the land on which the complexes will be established to negotiate with the companies applying for investment, in accordance with the government’s vision in establishing new cities to determine an appropriate share of the housing units for the benefit of the party that owns the land.” The results will be presented to the Supreme Committee for Reconstruction and Investment later.”
Appropriate economic models for establishing additional stations to produce electrical energy in the governorates of Baghdad and Salah al-Din were also discussed, in order to choose the model that reduces the financial burdens on the public treasury.
