The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) issued its report on the parliamentary and municipal elections for the year 2022 in Bahrain.

The institution stated that the report included 88 indicators and covered the period prior to the start of the elections, registering in the electoral lists, receiving applications for nominations, monitoring the electoral process on polling day, observing the final announcement of the winners, and appeals against the results.

Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the NIHR, said that participation in the elections is one of the most prominent aspects of His Majesty the King’s comprehensive development process, which aims to create a developed democratic system based on the integration and participation of individuals in political decision-making to serve the public interest.

Al Derazi pointed out that the report concluded with a number of observations and recommendations that seek to ensure the right to candidacy and election, which come as a follow-up of the institution’s recommendations in its previous report of 2018.

The report is available in the reports section of the website of the National Institution for Human Rights, www.nihr.org.bh.
