Tripoli: The Ministry of Water Resources has issued a warning to citizens to steer clear of valleys due to anticipated weather changes. The Government of National Unity's ministry highlighted the potential for scattered rainfall and thunderstorms, which could result in water accumulation and flash floods in northern regions of the country. This weather pattern is expected to begin today, Sunday, and continue for the next two days.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry's statement, posted on its official page, draws on forecasts from the National Meteorological Center. It indicates that areas from Tripoli to Misrata are likely to see increased cloud cover and scattered rainfall, sometimes with thunderstorms.
The statement further outlines that the northeastern regions, stretching from Benghazi to the Green Mountain, have a higher likelihood of rainfall this evening and tonight. Thunderstorms in these areas could lead to water accumulation and flash flooding in low-lying areas and local valleys.
In light of these forecasts, the Ministry of Water Resources has advised citizens to avoid wadis and low-lying regions and refrain from crossing roads impacted by water buildup or flash floods. They also emphasized the importance of following instructions from relevant authorities to ensure public safety.
The Ministry underscored the need for precautions, particularly in areas near wadis, and urged everyone to stay informed through weather updates and warnings from official bodies.
