Libyan Delegation Engages American Companies on Investment Opportunities in Washington

Washington: A delegation from the Government of National Unity is engaging with several American companies in Washington to explore investment opportunities in Libya. The discussions are centered on resuming oil exploration and drilling operations, with a focus on energy, infrastructure, health, and digital transformation sectors.

According to Libyan News Agency, the delegation includes key figures such as the acting Minister of Oil, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, a member of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Investment Authority, Mustafa Al-Manea, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, Suhail Boushiha. They met with notable individuals including the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, and other American officials and business representatives like Debbie Hurst, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, and Joshua Volz, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for European, Eurasian, African, and Middle Eastern Affairs.

The “Our Government” platform reported ongoing discussions with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to activate the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement and the Libyan-American Trade and Investment Council. This initiative was welcomed by the American participants, indicating a mutual interest in strengthening economic ties. The meeting concluded with plans for a future visit by major American companies to Tripoli, as part of efforts to foster strategic economic partnerships. The U.S. Ambassador expressed support for Libya’s pursuit of stability and economic growth.
