Libya sends a rescue team and a shipment of humanitarian aid to Turkey

Tripoli- Today, Tuesday, the Government of National Unity sent a shipment of humanitarian aid and a Libyan rescue team to Turkey to participate in search and relief operations following the devastating earthquakes there.

The rescue team, which left Maitiga airport this morning, includes members of the National Safety Authority, military medical team, support and emergency medical team, and the Criminal Investigation Agency.

And bidding farewell to the rescue team was the Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, and the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Kanaan Yilmaz.

Today, Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared ten earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkey a disaster area, as well as imposing a three-month state of emergency.

Erdogan said, in a televised speech, that 70 countries have offered assistance in search and rescue operations, noting that the death toll in Turkey has risen to 3,549.
