Tripoli: Libya and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding to lift restrictions on passenger and cargo air movement between the two nations. The agreement was signed by Libya’s Minister of Transport in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, and UAE’s Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority.

According to Libyan News Agency, the memorandum aims to boost bilateral cooperation in the air transport sector and facilitate air travel. This initiative is expected to contribute to increased trade and investment exchanges, thereby strengthening the economic ties between Libya and the UAE.

The government’s media website also noted that this memorandum is part of a broader strategy by Libya to reopen its airspace and enhance aviation cooperation with various countries. Similar agreements have been concluded with Tunisia, Egypt, and Turkey, marking a significant step in Libya’
s efforts to reintegrate into the global aviation community.
