Lawmakers on Tuesday called for rescinding a decision delegating the task of granting medical exemptions to the Royal Court, and demanded that the government provide medications to citizens, holders of temporary passports and Gazans residing in Jordan. The deputies discussed the medical exemptions issue during a session chaired by Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi in the attendance of Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and cabinet ministers. They called for canceling the decision, improving and developing services in public hospitals, particularly in the governorates, and expanding medical specialties. “Health insurance is a sacred right of citizens, and patients affected by this decision are those in governorates far from the capital, where government hospitals offer poor service”, they pointed out. The Speaker announced a session of the Executive Council, which groups representatives of parliamentary blocs and the permanent office, to take a final decision on the medical exemptions issue and send it to the government.
