Hurricane Brazil leaves 21 deaths

The hurricane that struck the southern regions of Brazil yesterday left at least 21 deaths, while hundreds of people were rescued from landslides and floods caused by rain.

The Brazilian Authorities said in a statement that more than 25,000 people from 60 towns have been affected by the torrential rains caused by the hurricane, which caused landslides and floods.

For his part, the Governor of the state of "Rio Grande" do Sul Eduardo Leite said that hundreds of people were rescued, and the trapped residents were evacuated via helicopters, after more than 300 mm of rain fell on this state during the past 24 hours.
