His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Decree-Law (12) of 2023, amending Article (4) of (38) of 2009 on establishing the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), based on the proposal of the Prime Minister, and after the approval of the Cabinet.
The decree-law stipulated the following:
Article (1):
The text of Paragraph (A) of Article (4) of Law No. (38) of 2009 establishing the NHRA shall be replaced with the following text:
A- The Authority replaces the ministry in exercising its powers stipulated in:
1- Decree-Law (2) of 1987 regarding the practice of allied health professions by non-physicians and pharmacists.
2- Decree-law (7) of 1989 regarding the practice of the profession of human medicine and dentistry.
3- Decree-Law (18) of 1997 regulating pharmacy practice and pharmacy centres.
4- Law (15) of 2007 regarding narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The Supreme Council for Health (SCH) shall replace the minister in exercising duties and powers stipulated in the aforementioned laws in a manner that does not conflict with the provisions of this law."
The Prime Minister shall implement this decree, which shall come into effect from the date of its issuance, and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
