Beirut: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati developments in Syria and the ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese "Hezbollah". Sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said today, Saturday, that the two sides discussed in a phone call the latest developments in Syria and the ceasefire in Lebanon. According to National Iraqi News Agency, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese "Hezbollah" had come into effect at dawn last Wednesday, ending mutual shelling that began on October 8, 2023, then turned into a large-scale war over the last two months. The Israeli aggression on Lebanon resulted in 3,961 dead and 16,520 wounded, including a large number of children and women. Most of the victims and displaced persons were recorded after September 23, according to official Lebanese data. On the other hand, clashes erupted between armed opposition factions and Syrian regime forces in the western countryside of Aleppo at dawn last Wednesday. Opposition forces recorded rapid progress in the western countryside towards the city of Aleppo and also took control of several areas in the Idlib countryside. The opposition forces also entered the city of Aleppo on Friday afternoon and then continued to advance in the evening to take control of large parts of the city.
