Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbaiba, affirmed the government's continued support for the health sector and the development of specialized medical services. This aims to enhance local treatment within the country, reduce the need for treatment abroad, and improve the quality of healthcare provided to citizens throughout Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, this statement came during a field visit Dbaiba made to the Tajoura Heart Center, accompanied by the Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Bin Ghalbon, and the Minister of Health, Mohammed Al-Ghouj. The visit was intended to review the center's operations and the level of medical and treatment services provided.

During the visit, Dbaiba inspected the cardiac surgery department and observed a heart valve replacement procedure, along with two diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures. This visit was part of his direct monitoring of the medical performance, the readiness of the center's specialized departments, and the quality of services provided to patients.

The tour included visits to the operating rooms, intensive care unit, and several medical facilities and departments. The Prime Minister reviewed the center's technical capabilities, available equipment, and operational procedures, as well as its operational and technical needs to support and develop specialized services.

He also visited several patients and inpatients, listening to their concerns about their health and the level of services provided. He emphasized the government's commitment to supporting specialized healthcare institutions and providing the best possible medical care to citizens throughout the country.

Dbaiba held an extensive meeting with the center's administration. During the meeting, the center's director presented a detailed overview of the workflow and medical services provided. He explained that the center comprises 10 specialized departments serving patients from across the country, and that the number of admissions to inpatient wards during the first quarter of 2026 reached 1,041, reflecting the center's high level of medical activity and its role in providing specialized cardiac services.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of strengthening the capabilities of specialized centers and providing them with the necessary operational and technical resources.
