Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, inaugurated the first phase of the Third Ring Road project in the capital, Tripoli, on Monday evening. The project was attended by a number of ministers, government officials, and representatives of the Egyptian consortium implementing the road.
According to Libyan News Agency, Dabaiba stated during the opening ceremony that this project is a significant strategic infrastructure development aimed at relieving pressure on central Tripoli and reducing congestion. This initiative is expected to connect western and eastern parts of Tripoli more efficiently, thereby enhancing safety and reducing travel times within the capital.
He elaborated that the first phase of the project, stretching from Ghout al-Shaal Island to the airport road, comprises a 6-kilometer dual carriageway. Each road features three lanes, supplemented by an additional 12 kilometers of service roads. The infrastructure includes four vehicle bridges, three pedestrian bridges, integrated lighting, and a rainwater drainage network, all monitored by a comprehensive camera system.
The Third Ring Road is a strategic project for Tripoli, spanning 24 kilometers with an estimated cost of 4.263 billion dinars. It is designed with a dual carriageway featuring three lanes in each direction, an emergency lane on both sides, and two-lane service roads, aiming to significantly improve the traffic flow and transportation efficiency in the city.
