Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, met with ambassadors from the European Union, Italy, the United Kingdom, Greece, and the Deputy Ambassador of France. During the meeting, Dabaiba expressed gratitude for their supportive stances towards the investigations of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.
According to Libyan News Agency, Dabaiba highlighted the importance of international cooperation in achieving justice and accountability for serious crimes against citizens. He reiterated his government’s commitment to combating impunity and working closely with international justice institutions.
The news agency reported that Dabaiba stressed the state’s vision to dismantle all armed formations outside the official army and police institutions, viewing this as essential for building a stable civil state governed by legitimate institutions. The meeting also addressed significant violations by armed groups, such as murder, kidnapping, torture, and extortion, underscoring the need for accountability.
The discussions included the problematic role of certain armed groups in organized crime, particularly human trafficking and illegal immigration. Dabaiba called for a stronger international response to support the government’s efforts in combating these activities.
Additionally, the meeting covered joint cooperation between Libya and the European Union, with a focus on resuming programs for stability, institutional development, and combating irregular migration.
