Customs Authority Stops Smuggling of £123,900 at Mitiga Airport

Tripoli: The Libyan Customs Authority has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle over £123,000 through Mitiga International Airport. According to Libyan News Agency, the Customs Authority revealed that the Investigation Unit of the Tripoli Anti-Smuggling and Narcotics Department apprehended a Libyan citizen on Friday. The individual had completed travel procedures, had his passport stamped, and was set to travel to Turkey. He was found carrying a suitcase containing £123,900, which was skillfully concealed and intended to be smuggled out of the country. The Authority stated that all necessary legal measures were undertaken concerning the incident. The suspect, along with the seized money, has been referred to the Tripoli District Attorney's Office for Combating Corruption Crimes. The Customs Authority emphasized its ongoing commitment to combating such smuggling attempts to maintain the stability of the national economy and deter violations of the laws and regulations in place.
