Tripoli: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government appointed by parliament has denied claims about the kidnapping of an Indian family within Libyan territory.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation clarified that reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media platforms regarding the alleged kidnapping were inaccurate. The Ministry stated that the family was apprehended by competent security authorities as they attempted to use Libyan territory as a transit point for irregular migration to Europe.

The Ministry assured that it had coordinated fully with the relevant security agencies to implement necessary legal measures. The situation of the family was addressed, and all arrangements were made to ensure their safe return to their country of origin.

The Ministry's statement also highlighted that a Libyan family provided accommodation and care for the Indian family during their stay in Libya. Additionally, the Ministry emphasized the importance of accuracy and credibility in reporting news related to Libya and urged all media outlets to depend on official sources, cautioning against spreading inaccurate information due to its potential negative impact on public opinion.
