BERRI BROACHES GENERAL SITUATION AND DEVELOPMENTS WITH BOU SAAB, MEETS CARETAKER MINISTERS OF INTERIOR, INFORMATION AND ECONOMY

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Wednesday met at the Second Presidency in Ain-el-Tineh, with Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, with whom he discussed the general situation, security and field developments, and the course of investigations into the cyber breach at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

On emerging, Minister Mawlawi said that the visit was to brief the Speaker on all the matters and steps undertaken by the Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities, especially during the holiday season, and to discuss all national matters of concern to the Lebanese. He also added that he informed the Speaker of the ongoing investigations into the cyber breach that occurred at the Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Speaker Berri also met with Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makary, with whom discussed the latest political developments and media affairs.

Minister Makary said on emerging that he offered the Speaker well-wishes on the occasion of the holiday season, and
discussed with him all national matters that Lebanon is going through.

Minister Makary stressed the need to elect a president of the republic in order for things to be regulated in the Lebanese administration and in the Lebanese Republic. ‘Basically, all efforts are focused on two basic things: neutralizing Lebanon from the devastating war being waged against occupied Palestine and electing a President of the Republic.’

He concluded: “In these circumstances, we would like to assure all Lebanese that despite all the political differences, it is necessary to be united in facing the crises that are rattling the region.”

Berri later met with Caretaker Trade and Economy Minister, Amin Salam, over the country’s general conditions, especially the economic ones, and the latest political developments.

This afternoon, Berri met with Deputy House Speaker, Elias Bou Saab, and discussed with him the latest political developments in light of Bou Saab’s recent meeting with the US Envoy, Amos Hochstein, last Monday in Ro
me. Discussions also touched on current field developments as a result of Israel’s continued aggression against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, in addition to legislative affairs.
