Vice-Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). Khalid Mohammed Najibi, has stressed Bahrain’s keenness on consolidating the sustainability of its economic growth and developing its policies aimed at attracting investments and generating more quality investment opportunities.

He asserted that since its establishment, BCCI has strived to implement a comprehensive strategy to enhance Bahrain’s economic cooperation with various countries, in order to increase trade exchange, bolster investment cooperation and exchange expertise with them, noting that BCCI focuses on contributing to spurring the economy, as well as supporting the private sector and its investment projects.

Najibi was speaking while meeting here today a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Asmaa El-Ganainy, in the presence of BCCI board members and officials.

The IMF delegation is on a visit to the kingdom, within the framework of Bahrain’s ongoing cooperation with IMF and other specialised international organisations to exchange and evaluate experiences and work on developing them to serve its development goals and national priorities.

During the meeting, BCCI First Vice-Chairman reviewed the private sector’s efforts to develop the national economy and attract mega investment projects to ensure that the kingdom’s economic development plan is achieved.

He indicated that the government had launched an economic stimulus package during the spread of COVID-19, which provided the necessary liquidity for the private sector to deal with the effects of the pandemic, noting that the government’s initiative had contributed significantly to maintaining sustainable growth, and creating a state of reassurance among all commercial, industrial and service sectors.

The package also supported the Bahraini private sector enterprises, especially the small ones, as it helped them overcome the difficulties they faced by easing the financial obligations imposed on them, which contributed to creating a growing state of economic recovery with positive effects that served the situation of the private sector in general and stimulated the investment process, in particular, he said.

Asmaa El-Ganainy commended the efforts of the Government of Bahrain to launch incentive initiatives to sustain the growth of the economy and the Fiscal Balance Program, which reflected positively on the indicators of economic growth in the Kingdom.

She expressed thanks to BCCI for its cooperation with the IMF delegation during its visit to review the Kingdom’s experience.
